During the 80’s and 90’s, the Valencia Guitar brand offered a wide range of Classical, Acoustic, Electric and Bass guitars, predominantly for the Australian market.

Following the decision in 1998 to launch Valencia Guitars onto the world market as a specialist classical guitar brand only, the Essex (SX) brand was introduced for Acoustic and Electric guitars.

The best Asian guitar factories at the time were engaged to produce competitively priced Essex Guitars utilising top quality components. Before long the Essex brand had earned a world-wide reputation for its excellent instruments and value for money.

Since these early days, the Essex range has expanded to incorporate Acoustic, Electric, Bass and Lap Steel Guitars, Guitar & Bass Amplifiers, Folk Instruments and Accessories and has grown it’s reputation for great quality and exceptional value for money.

Today Essex Guitars are manufactured by two different guitar manufacturers in Southern China with all production and quality control overseen by our own staff.

From its humble, home grown beginnings in Melbourne Australia, Essex is now proudly sold in over 70 countries around the world.
